Displaying brilliant Danish design and carpentry, this vintage Dining Chair was designed by Arne Hovmand-Olsen for Onsild Mobelfabrik, circa 1950s. Characterized by its organic shape and clean lines, this chair features a finely crafted teak wood frame that props a slim seat and backrest, almost appearing like they are floating. A unique piece, this chair stays true to the natural elements that are celebrated in Danish modernism.
Danish furniture designer Arne Hovmand-Olsen was born in Denmark in 1919. With an aptitude for drawing and design, he started his career in 1938 as an apprentice for cabinet maker for P. Olsen Sibast and then went on to graduate from a technical school dedicated to furniture design. He established his own furniture studio, creating designs in Scandinavian modern style that found great success in both Denmark and the United States. Characteristics of his designs are the use of forms with clean lines, organic curves, and tapered legs.
